For those that have donated already, a very big thank you once again.

For those that would like to donate, I would be most grateful, as always.

Hello again everyone, well time is now flying by with just two weeks to go before I start my cycle challenge. I will be driving down to Penzance from Lincoln on Wednesday 31st May, to be collected (me, bike and bags) and taken to the hotel at St Just. The first evening will be a meet & greet, followed by a series of briefings (do's, don'ts, routes and safety), then a group dinner. From our WhatsApp group that has been set up, there seems to be around 15 of us attempting this challenge, possibly more?

I have now had my trusty steed serviced and 'the Bianchi' is ready to go !! After my recent very long training rides, I have now scaled it back slightly, concentrating on keeping the old limbs moving and maintaining the fitness level I have reached. My focus is now mainly on rest, fluid intake, nutrition and lots of sleep. For those that do cycle, i have, at the ready, the Hibiscrub, Sponge and Doublebase Cream to keep my 'undercarriage' soft and fresh.

I now also have the GPS Files (daily routes and mileages) which i have imported onto my bike computer, so hopefully wont get lost (famous last words....) what could possibly go wrong! I will be going over, through and across some stunning scenery and famous land marks and structures, here are a few... Clifton Suspension Bridge, Old Severn Crossing, Edinburgh City Forth Road Bridge, Lake District, Scottish Highlands, Dartmoor and many others.

However, Day 1 is exciting me as before I close in on Plymouth, i will be cycling past HMS Raleigh, which is where I joined the Royal Navy back in 1976 (what memories) and then across the Torpoint Ferry into Devonport which I am also very familiar with.

As I have said, I will be posting a daily blog for you all during the ride, to keep you updated on my progress with hopefully some funny stories along the way and some stunning photos too.

Bye for now,

Mark
