Hello everyone, firstly thank you to all of you that have donated to my challenge on Just Giving so far, I really do appreciate this, as does The Born Free Foundation, thank you.
As a 'respectful and polite reminder' my Just Giving site is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-quince2 or please just put my name into the search, thanks.
Also, my 'Blog' site is: https://mquince1.wixsite.com/cyclechallenge

As more and more updates are posted by the Born Free Foundation on general animal cruelty, in particular Lions, along with their diminishing numbers (which is very alarming), gives me the 'great incentive' to keep going with my training, even now the weather is turning colder and wetter.
So, what am I doing about this...... Thank heavens for the ever ready 'Turbo' I have a bike set up on this machine in my rather cool garage ready to be mounted at a moment's notice. As all cyclists will know it is always a good thing to mix up your road work with some sessions on the turbo, which I am now doing. I have my blue tooth speaker on next to me, with planet rock blasting out as I pedal for gold. I manage to do at least 30 hard minutes each trip on the turbo, which is gratifying and a nice mix of exercise, even though it is sometimes boring looking at the same garage door and its abundance of rather nice cobwebs.
I am still managing to get out on the road when possible, racking up some miles but I am under no illusions that these miles need to increase somewhat and also my search of tasty climbs for much needed hill work too.
In early 2023 and leading up to the 1st of June, my intentions are to live like a monk and banish all thoughts of beer, cakes and chocolate (not that I do a lot of these anyway......... cakes and chocolate that is). I have a training plan, however, the good news is that I have already achieved much of the targets, with the long cycles remaining, of course not forgetting the much needed hill work. I will be looking again at the Yorkshire & Derbyshire Dales around March, April & May to help me to achieve my goals.
Please find the time to look at the Born Free Foundation site and some of the shocking images of animal cruelty on there. These give me the incentive to help raise awareness and as many funds as I can towards their protection, avoidable extinction and much needed
sanctuary.
Thanks again to you all for your support, I can promise many more and frequent blog posts will be posted between now and the challenge itself. Finally, may I thank those in advance who are intending to donate via my Just Giving link, I am way off my target at present but with all of your help, we can achieve this, thanks all.
