Hello everyone, I hope 2023 has got off to a good start for you all, As ever the start of the year is passing by quickly and before we know it, Springtime will be upon us.
For me, it brings my Lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge a step closer with only 14 (yes 14 !!!) weeks to go.
My training is going ok, I am now starting to get some serious mileage in and taking in as many hills as I possibly can in Lincolnshire. I will be travelling up to the Scottish Highlands for a family holiday in April, this time I will be taking my bike with me as there are some stunningly 'big' hills and climbs there.... good practice indeed.
The weather also seems to be picking up too, which is great news, although I have enjoyed the hard, cold and wet winter days. I have only missed 4 days so far in 2023 where I haven't been able to train, like my blog title suggests..... winter miles = summer smiles. I feel that my hard work over the winter months will stand me in good stead for the upcoming Spring and Summer seasons, with my fitness level much better compared to the same time last year.
Late March / Early April I am planning to cycle out 100 miles from my home, booking into a B&B for the night, then cycle home the return 100 miles the very next day. I think this will help me acclimatise to what will be expected of me over the 10 day challenge. I will be doing this a couple of times hopefully between now and the end of May.
