#9. Only 11 Weeks to Go !! .... Progress Update

Hello everyone. Since my last blog and in the last three weeks, I have intensified my training, increasing my mileage week by week, with more to come.

Over the past three weekends I have explored greater Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, completing three good training rides of 56, 60 and 66 miles respectively.

The first of these, the 56 miler, took me via Woodall Spa, Coningsby and Sleaford, the weather was atrocious, with sleet and heavy rain, not to mention the cold strong wind too. All good stuff though as on the day I cannot select the weather and therefore have to take what's coming (hopefully there will be no sleet in June). This was great preparation.

The second ride of 60 miles, took me into Notts, via East Bridgford, the outskirts of Nottingham and back home via Southwell. Along the way I encountered Oxton hill, which was a tough climb but I got to the top with some to spare, I guess the better weather did help also,

Finally, last weekend, I ventured into South Lincolnshire, completing a 66 miler with 4 sizeable climbs (I know.... in Lincolnshire ??) competing at times against a strong wind, however it did stay dry.

So..... what next. Well, apart from ever increasing mileage, i have a monster trip planned for Good Friday (the 7th April). I will be cycling 100 miles out from my home, to a village in Oxfordshire called Sulgrave, i will be staying in a delightful looking pub (The Star) for one night B&B, before cycling back home the 100 miles the next day, Saturday. I will be delighted if i can do this as it will be what is expected of me throughout the 10 day Land's End to John O'Groats challenge.

I will update you all afterwards of course

To politely remind you all of why I am doing this and for who, please feel free to look at my links below and please donate if you are able, thank you.
