Very happy to have completed Day 1, which was very long after a late start, due to various briefings, but once I got underway it was around 9am. Alarmingly, my first hill climb was prior to reaching Penzance and my GPS Bike Computer displayed 1st climb of 38 ..... nightmare and very hard indeed.
Today the route, in particular the climbs was brutal, it took over 10 hours, as I say 38 'sharp' and some 'long' hill climbs, hot weather and the stiff wind was unfortunately against me most of the way. I went on 3 x ferries, The King Harry Floating Bridge, the Boddinnick Ferry (Fowey) and finally the Torpoint Ferry,
As well as the long mileage, I have calculated that I have potentially burned off 5,917 Calories, drank 8 full bottles of water and snacked either side of lunch. A hard day but with more to come tomorrow (from Plymouth, across Dartmoor, through Exeter and on to Street).
I am absolutely thrilled with all of the donations received so far, I promise I will get to say thanks to you all at some point. The latest total for The Born Free now sits at £2,804, an outstanding effort by all of you generous people, thank you, I will 100% be earning every penny of it..... 9 Days to go yet !!
Time for bed said ' Zebedee' Day 2 update tomorrow folks.
