Reading through all of the Land's End to John O'Groats (Lejog) guidance notes seems a challenge in itself, however, I have made a start.
Immediately, it is obvious that I have many things
to think about, to prepare, mileage to achieve and gear to buy, even what to pack? I guess I will need to re read again and again to start making sense of some things....... but I will get there I'm sure. It will be very worth it when I am on that tredder (Navy slang for bike) at Lands End, ready to go...... how exciting.
I am sure the next 10 months will go by swiftly, however I have so much to do and get ready before then, such as my endurance, strength and hill training, which I start this coming Saturday in the Yorkshire Dales.
Although I have been seriously cycling now for 5+ years, Lincolnshire remains largely 'flat' and as the first two days of my Lejog challenge are possibly the toughest through Cornwall and Devon with their numerous, gruelling hills, I need to ready myself.... not forgetting or under estimating the whole route, including, the Lake District and Highlands of Scotland, So it starts this weekend.......
I am off to Grassington on Saturday to tackle a serious hilly route I have set myself, through the local countryside, including transiting by Skipton and through Ilkley before heading north back into the dales and back to Grassington. My wife Diane has instructed me to book into a B&B for the night to recover before driving home, so I have heeded her advice and have booked into the Forresters Arms ...... oh dear !!!
I will write about it on my next blog to update you all.
Cheers for now.
